“Pumpkin Walk” keeps Halloween safe for Ferguson kids

The “I Love Ferguson Committee” is hosting the second annual “Pumpkin Walk” for Ferguson children to celebrate Halloween. The event was created to offer a safe daytime trick-or-treat activity The  “Pumpkin Walk,’ set for October 25 from 1 p.m. – 4 p.m. through the Old East Ferguson area.  Several local churches will be asked to help again this year and we are asking for volunteers to escort children and hand out candy. Homeowners in the Old Ferguson East neighborhood will once again be asked to place “Open for Halloween” signs on their lawns to welcome the children. The signs were generously donated by Scott Newger, president of Ferguson-based Newger Materials.  Homeowners will be given candy if needed to distribute.  Candy and signs will be available for pick up at the I love Ferguson Store at 299 South Florissant  Rd. starting October 19th.  To volunteer call the store at 314-254-7400.  Volunteers are also needed to put in the signs. Children must be accompanied by an adult.
